SSCP fraud: walky-talky MK and boom bluster Baalu — by V. Sundaram

SSCP fraud:Walky-talky MK and boom bluster Baalu

V Sundaram | Thu, 06 Dec, 2007 , 02:07 PM (Newstoday)

Sometime back Karunanidhi came out with a historic pronouncement that Lord Rama  is a drunkard and he has not taken any Engineering Degree from any College or Institution. This is one clear side of the ‘Dravidian’ face of Government of Tamilnadu which is anti-Hindu, anti-Rama, anti-Aryan and anti-North.

clip_image002This anti-national face has become known to all the common people in Northern India whose unshakeable faith in Lord Rama cannot be uprooted by one million Ambika Sonis, two million Bharatwajs, three million T R Baalus, one billion Karunanidhis and 10 billion Sonia Gandhis!! What makes the dastardly Dravidian drama scintillating and exciting is the fact that multi-coloured advertisement posters have been posted by Tamilnadu Government Tourism Department on many trains all over the country. Samples given below are from Janasatabdi Express between Dehradun and Delhi on C-4 coach. Similar posters can also be seen on Godavari Express. clip_image004

We can see the following words at the top of the multi-coloured Poster pasted in the C4 Coach of Jansatabti Express (see on the top left-hand side of the photograph):

“Where the past comes alive
Listen to the waves telling their stories at Rameswaram.”

The exact words found on the right-hand side of the same multi-coloured poster have been presented below:

The floating stone ‘Sethu Bandanam’ used to build the Sethu Bridge is worth seeing here, says another Tamilnadu Government Tourism Department pamphlet.

Taking note of these solid facts, Dr Subramanian Swamy, President of the Janata Party has issued a brilliant statement today to educate all the people of India and more particularly all the people in Northern India to make them fully aware of the mischievous machinations of Karunanidhi and his mendicant men to run down Hinduism in general and Lord Rama in particular, with a calculated anti-north and anti-Hindi malice derived from their racial prejudice and Himalayan cultural ignorance.

Dr. Subramanian Swamy’s today’s statement gives all the independent and spirited citizens in India, totally committed to the larger cause of very survival of our nation, this important working message: All the laws in this world has been obtained by heroic strife.

Every principle of law which obtains had first to be wrung by force from those who denied it; and every legal right—the legal rights of a whole nation as well as those of individuals—supposes a continual readiness to assert and defend it. That seems to be the heroic life mission of Dr. Subramanian Swamy.

Here are the exact words of Dr Subramanian Swamy:

1. The Tamilnadu Chief Minister Mr Karunanidhi and his lieutenant & Union Shipping Minister T R Baalu have been telling lies to the public about the existence of the Rama Setu, and on the economic and environmental viability of the Sethusamudram Shipping Channel Project (SSCP).

2. While Karunanidhi in his speeches debunks the Setu and Rama, the DMK State and the UPA Union Governments have been advertising and affirming the existence of the Setu and the historicity of Rama.

3. For example, the Tourist Department of the TN Government has been advertizing in Railway trains, urging the people to visit Rameshwaram and see where Rama set his ‘lotus feet’, to build a bridge (Setu) to Sri Lanka with the help of the Vanar Sena (see enclosed photos), to rescue his wife Sita.

4. The National Remote Sensing Agency (NRSA), of the Union Ministry of Space has published a book of satellite photographs [ISBN: 817525 6524] claiming that ‘archaeological studies show’ that the Setu may be ‘man made’. This book has been distributed to all MPs free by the Ministry of Space. Yet Ms Ambika Soni as Minister of Culture to a question in Rajya Sabha (14 August, 2007) falsely stated that ‘no archaeological studies has been made in respect of the Rama Setu’. This is a breach of privilege of the House, for which she should be punished.

5. The Ministry of Environment & Forests had in a letter dated 8 April, 1999 to the Ministry of Surface Transport, conveyed it’s opinion that the SSCP should be scrapped as it is an environmental disaster (see the copy of the letter below). This opinion was based on an analysis of the NEERI Report of 1998. Yet in 2005 the Ministry reversed it’s opinion based on the same 1998 data. Why? No explanation has been given so far for this somersault.

Government of India
Ministry of Environment & Forests
ParyavaranBhavan, CGO Complex, Lodhi Road, New Delhi-110003

8th April 1999
Shri S. Gopalan, Development Adviser (Ports), Ministry of Surface Transport, Pariavahan Bhavan, Parliament Street, New Delhi.
SUB:  Sethusamudram Ship Canal Project – reg.
1.1 am directed to refer to your D.O. No.DW/DTM-4/97 dated ll”1 January 1999 on the above subject enclosing a copy of the Initial Environmental Examination made by the National Environmental Engineering Research Institute and subsequently presented to the officers of the Ministry on 24 March 1999.
2.Prima facie, the Ministry is not in favour of this Project as this Project has serious environmental implications with respect to marine park and the biosphere reserve located in that area. Since movement of oil tankers is also envisaged on the proposed ship canal, the possibility of oil pollution from accidental spills and disastrous consequences thereof to the sensitive eco-systems present in the marine national park and biosphere reserve can’t be ruled out.
3.Your Ministry has sought our comments con the initial Environmental  Report prepared by the NEERI. These are enclosed. This Ministry is of the strong opinion that from the environmental angle this Project should not be taken up at all.
Yours faithfully,
(R. Anandakumar)

6. The Ministry also suppressed a report prepared by Dr. S. Badrinarayanan, former Director of Geological Survey of India (GSI) in which based on a 2002 investigation under the sea near and at the Setu. The Report concluded that Rama Setu had been constructed, at least 9000 years ago, and is not a natural formation as claimed by Mr. Karunanidhi.
However without consulting the GSI, the Ministry of Culture hastily filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court that ‘there is no information or studies in the knowledge of the Government that Rama Setu is man made’. Former ASI DG S R Rao has ridiculed this stand government.

7. The SSCP is an economic loss, an environmental disaster, a national security risk, and a monument of Himalayan (Dravidian origin!) corruption. It will enable T R B. Selvam & Co (T R Balu’s son’s company) to earn money and help LTTE to move it’s terrorist and narcotic base to Kerala Coast. Therefore this anti-national project should be scrapped if no other alternative route without breaking Rama Setu is acceptable to Karunanidhi. Sri Rama’s bhaktas will have their way, and atheist Karunanidhi will lose in this contest and be pushed out of office.

It is well known that in the Supreme Court of India, Government of India through its Additional Solicitor General Sri Gopal Subramaniam, withdrew their earlier affidavit in a shameless manner by stating “… Having regard to public sentiment and having regard to the fact that representations, including additional material are being brought to the attention of the Government since the filing of this affidavit, the Central Government, without any reservation, in a spirit of inclusiveness and high democratic traditions, withdraws the present affidavit, to re-examine the entire matter. …”. The Supreme Court has adjourned the matter to 11 December, 2007. The matter is subjudice.

Against this background, it is disturbing to note that K Suresh, Chairman of Chennai Port Trust and Officer in-charge of the SSCP has declared that an amount of Rs. 80 crore has been allocated exclusively for the development of coastal communities.  He has also announced the development of new Fishing Harbours at places like Thondi, Sethupava Chattiram and Mookaiyur in the course of implementation of the SSCP.

This, in my view, amounts to contempt of the Supreme Court of India, apart from running counter to the assurance given to the Supreme Court by the Additional Solicitor General. With the Republic Day not far away, perhaps, that is the only way for qualifying for being recommended for Presidential awards in India!

In paragraph 5 of Dr Subramanian Swamy’s statement above, the Ministry of Environment gave a categorical finding in April, 1999 to the effect that the SSCP will be an environmental disaster.  This fact has been converted into contraband political opium and viciously concealed from the public view of the nation by T R Baalu till date. His private commitment to this fraud can also be seen from his inaugural address at the National Seminar on Conservation and Management of Marine Biodiversity, held in Kanyakumari on 21March, 2003. He was at that time Union Minister for Environment. I am quoting the relevant excerpt from this ‘hysterical’! (in no way historic!) speech of T R Baalu:

“….the marine environment of India has provided livelihood for millions of people since ages and will continue to do so if only we protect and conserve it, and refrain from unsustainable exploitation. The Father of Nation, Mahatma Gandhi had said ‘There is enough on this earth for everybody’s needs; but not for their greed’. We must therefore, strive to use the marine environment on the principle of ‘Live and let live’. I hope, the outcome and the recommendations of the seminar will make it to be regarded as a milestone in the conservation of nature in general, and marine bio-diversity conservation in particular.”

So much for T R Baalu’s Sonia Gandhian (if not Mahatma Gandhian!) commitment to the conservation of the marine environment in the Gulf of Mannar area- and even more for the preservation of the Ramar Sethu bridge.
