Ayodhya, November 13 On December 30, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) activists plan to gather in New Delhi to spread awareness among the masses regarding the Ram Setu issue.

In a series of programmes from November 20 to December 20, VHP activists will visit about 20,000 villages carrying a replica of the Ram Setu, in order to motivate Hindus to be united on the issue.

Addressing a press conference in Ayodhya, VHP leader Ashok Singhal said, “VHP will recruit about a million dharma yodhas (religious warriors) to save the Ram Setu.” Singhal, along with other VHP leaders including Praveen Togadia, Mahant Avaidnath, Swami Vasdevanand and Omkar Bhave, were in Ayodhya today to attend a meeting of VHP’s Ram Setu Rakcha Mandal. Singhal said, “We will raise this issue both on the national and international levels.”

Mahant Avidhnath, a senior VHP leader said, “Today majority of the Hindus are aloof from this issue. They are in not sure weather Ramayana is false epic or a true religious scripture.”

He added, “We will enroll lakhs of dharma yodhas for our proposed programme of carrying replicas of Ram Setu to several villages.”

However, president of Ram Janam Bhumi Nyas Trust and senior VHP leader Mahant Nritya Gopal Das said, “Demolition of Ram Setu will hurt Muslims and Christians as well. There are thousand of Muslim and Christian fishermen in Rameshwaram. They would lose their livelihood if the Ram Setu is demolished.”
